Christoph Galtierre leaves Nice ahead of his move to League 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Nice confirmed on Monday that Lucian Favre had returned to the club to replace Galtierre four years after leaving the Alliance Riviera.

Galtier, 55, is set to replace Mauricio Pochettino a year after leading Lille to the French title during the 2020-21 campaign.

He previously worked at Lille with Louis Campos, the PSG's recently appointed football adviser.

Galtierre took charge of 43 games at Nice, leading the League 1 team to fifth place last season.

Announcing his departure, Nice said: "Christoph Galtier is no longer in charge of the first team at OGC Nice.

"This Monday morning, Aiglons will be led by Lucian Favre. The club is proud to announce his return."

His arrival at the PSG marks the end of Pochettino's rule in the French capital.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager PSG is on the verge of being sacked despite leading the French team to the title.

PS Madrid's exit from Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League has been one of Pochettino's job losses.

Pochettino's men took a two - goal lead in the second quarter, allowing the final winners, Real Madrid, to advance at their own expense.

Club President Nasser al-Khalifi launched an important review this summer, which led to the ouster of sports director Leonardo.

Galtierre, along with Campos, will decide who will leave the club in the summer transfer window, who will be officially announced as manager.

PSG wants to sell French players as part of a major squad upgrade, along with Mauro Icardi, Idrissa Guay, Danilo Pereira, Keeler Navas and Julian Dracz‌ler.

The club have won eight of the last 10 French titles but have yet to reach the Champions League..

Nice coach Christoph Galtier led Lille a season ago to snatch the French league title from PSG. He won the league title that day but later left the Galtierre club to go to Nice. The 55-year-old coach has previously coached the St. Attienne club

The club have won eight of the last 10 French titles but are yet to get their hands on the Champions League.
